IT Technician I

Starting Salary: $16.89

Location: New Port Richey

General Description: Performs first level Service Desk Support for the Pasco County production environment. Operates under the direction of the Technical Analyst I Help Desk supervisor. Provides customer service by phone, in-person and through mail (electronic and hard copy). Additionally performs responsible clerical work in support of the department.

EMERGENCY RESPONSE/RECOVERY ACTIVITIES: All employees will be required to work before, during, or after an emergency. During an emergency, employees may temporarily be assigned to work and perform duties outside the normal scope of their position, location and work schedule to fit the needs of the County and its citizens.
 Essential Job Functions:Opens, assigns, and escalates service desk incident tickets using the telephone, by email, or using a service desk tool. Performs first level telephone support for production hardware, network and application incidents. Maintain current inventory and asset management records using a service desk tool, database and/or spreadsheets. Serves as a point of contact with vendors for repair or replacement of hardware equipment. Receives and distributes departmental mail. Receives and screens telephone calls. Refers callers to appropriate individual/department. Screens visitors, secures details of specialized information from the visitor and issuing information regarding the services or operation of the unit. Receives and signs for shipments. Maintains department office supply inventory. Keeps departmental calendars and schedules appointments for conference rooms. Sets up video conference calls. Performs related work as required.
  •  Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:Excellent communications and customer service skills required to answer telephone and respond in email to customer incidents.
  • Knowledge of personal computer and software applications, especially IT Service Desk tools, Microsoft Windows 7 and Office 2010 products.
  • Ability to perform basic troubleshooting and properly document incidents for further escalation and resolution.
  • Must be detail oriented and exercise self-discipline to properly follow standard Help Desk procedures and practices.
  • Knowledge of business English, spelling, and punctuation.
  • Knowledge of office methods, procedures and basic inventory functions.
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
 Minimum Requirements:PHYSICAL SKILLS: Requires sitting for extended periods. Required to lift and carry computer equipment up to 40 pounds. Ability to communicate effectively using verbal, written and visual communication.
 
EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE: Graduation from an accredited college or university with an Associate degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems or related field OR graduation from high school or possession of an acceptable equivalency diploma and two (2) years' experience in the installation, configuring and troubleshooting of personal computers and networks.
 
LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS OR REGISTRATIONS: Must possess a valid driver's license.
